Business Names Registration: Which Offences the 2015 Regulations Make Compoundable

The one-page regulations identify offences the Registrar may compound under section 37. They list precise statutory provisions; they do not promise settlement or state a fixed composition amount.

Source checked · 11 October 2026 Historical document

The statutory offences identified

The offences under sections 11(12), 22(3), 32(4), 34(1), 35(1)(a), 35(3) and 46(5) of the Business Names Registration Act may be compounded by the Registrar in accordance with section 37. The exact subsection references define the scope; this instrument does not say all offences under the Act are compoundable.

The additional regulatory offence

The list also covers an offence under regulation 7(2) of the Business Names Registration Regulations 2015, S 825/2015. The source gives the provision number without reproducing that regulation’s substantive wording. It does not supply a composition fee or remove the underlying compliance requirement.

Commencement and legal identity

Made under section 43 on 21 December 2015, these regulations were published as S 826/2015 on 31 December and commenced on 3 January 2016. They are a short historical instrument to be read alongside the cited Act and general regulations.
