What the restriction says
Under section 17(1)(d) of the Business Names Registration Act 2014, the Minister directs the Registrar not to accept the word Temasek in any registered business name, subject to the stated exception. The PDF does not create a general procedure under which an unrelated applicant may obtain consent to use it.
The named exception and its identity
The restriction does not apply where the person applying to carry on business as sole proprietor or partner under the name is Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited, registration number 197401143C. The source names that company itself; it does not extend the exception in its text to any affiliate, licensee or business with a similar identity.
Dates and replacement of the older direction
The notification was made on 21 December 2015, published on 31 December 2015 as S 830/2015 and commenced on 3 January 2016. It revoked the earlier directions under section 13(1)(d) identified as Cap. 32, Dir. 1. These details locate the restriction in the 2015 replacement framework.
