Applications for Extension of Time: Six Bizfile Routes (2025)

The April 2025 guide distinguishes six extension applications, their 14-,30- or 60-day periods, eligibility restrictions, supporting documents, payment steps and approval notifications. Every application must precede the original deadline.

Apply before the original due date

The thirty-four-page guide, updated on 14 April 2025, states that all extension applications must be submitted before the original filing due date: requests cannot be processed after that date has passed. Its six routes are tied to specified statutory obligations rather than a general permission to delay any filing. Log in with Corppass Business User credentials, verify the entity dashboard, then select Manage and Apply for extension of time. Check the correct entity again after starting the chosen route.

LLP annual declarations: sixty days

An LLP may request a 60-day extension for its annual declaration of solvency or insolvency under section 30(4) of the Limited Liability Partnerships Act. Select the extension type and a reason. The screenshot lists an accountant or auditor needing more time, accounts being prepared for a striking-off application, accounts with regulatory authorities, and Others. If none matches, choose Others and explain the actual reason in the text field. Review, complete the accuracy declaration and Submit. The Inbox first confirms submission; a separate notification follows when approval is given.

Local-company AGM and annual-return extensions

Local companies may request 60 days for an AGM under section 175, an annual return under section 197, or both. Indicate SGX listed or unlisted status and which obligation is being extended. Verify the financial year-end date and select the reason. If the year-end is wrong, first use Update change of financial year end date under Manage. The application requires acknowledgement that a later application to change the year-end invalidates the extension. These dates therefore need to be settled before relying on this route.

AGM/annual-return documents, payment and processing

Upload supporting documents in PDF. The screenshot allows one file up to 5MB and cautions that embedded images or files are not scanned for personal information; sensitive information may need masking if records become publicly accessible. The written instruction requires an alphanumeric filename with no spaces, special characters or foreign-language characters. Review, declare and Proceed to payment, choose a method, Make payment and retain the acknowledgement and receipt. For an unlisted company’s first application, the guide says approval is immediate upon successful submission; subsequent applications take at least 14 working days. An Inbox submission notice is followed by an approval notice. The sample AGM payment shows $200 in the 2025 interface, not a universal price for every route.

Foreign-company financial statements: eligibility determines the route

A foreign-company branch may request 60 days under section 373(10). Enter its year-end, whether it must table financial statements and hold an AGM in its place of incorporation, and the reason. This particular route is available only if it is not required to table statements at an AGM there. If that requirement does apply, use Others, General Lodgement, then Others and Other general lodgement. For the eligible route, review and declare, pay and download the receipt; the Inbox then confirms approval. The sample financial-statement payment is $200 in this edition.

Capital-reduction court-order notice: fourteen days

For a local company’s notice of a court order approving a capital reduction under section 78I, the listed extension is 14 days. Enter the court reference and order date. The reference must exactly match the earlier Bizfile filing of Notice of court order for approval of reduction of share capital by special resolution under section 78G. Upload the Notice of Court Order as a PDF and provide the reason. The interface calculates the extended period and due date. Review, declare and Submit; the guide shows a confirmation and an Inbox approval notice rather than a payment sequence for this branch.

Overseas-executed charges: thirty days

Local or foreign companies may request 30 days under section 139 for registering a charge whose instrument was executed outside Singapore. Enter the charge creation date, country of execution and reason; the interface calculates the extension and due date. Review, declare and Submit, then check the approval notification. An instrument executed in Singapore does not qualify for this service: the guide directs the company to obtain a court order under section 137 to extend registration time. The creation date and execution country are therefore material eligibility particulars.

Re-domiciliation de-registration evidence: sixty days

A foreign corporate entity re-domiciled to Singapore may seek 60 days under section 359(7) to submit evidence that it has been de-registered in its original place of incorporation. Select this type, confirm the entity and provide the reason, then review, declare and proceed to payment. After successful payment, download the receipt and check the Inbox notification confirming submission and approval. The screenshot shows $200 in the 2025 payment interface. This extends submission of the evidence; it does not replace the evidence or complete de-registration abroad.

Submission evidence and approval are distinct

Retain the correct entity, extension type, application reference, payment receipt where applicable and the approval notification. The guide distinguishes a submission acknowledgement from approval, especially for LLP declarations and AGM/annual-return applications. A displayed prospective extended date is not a substitute for the decision notification. Its screenshots use dummy identities and dates, so those sample due dates must not be copied into an actual company’s compliance calendar.
