Commonwealth War Graves Commission Singapore Branch: The Section 379 Exemption

The 2023 regulations exempt one named foreign-company branch from section 379. The exemption is entity-specific and took effect on 28 June 2023; it is not an exemption for all foreign charities or commissions.

The precise entity covered

The exempt entity is Commonwealth War Graves Commission (Singapore Branch), UEN T15FC0152C, registered as a foreign company under Division 2 of Part 11 of the Companies Act. The name, branch identity and UEN define the beneficiary; similarly named entities do not qualify merely by association.

Exemption limited to section 379

Regulation 2 exempts that entity from section 379. It does not list section 380 or announce exemption from every company filing or register duty. The PDF is a specific legal exception and should not be broadened into a general foreign-company rule.

Authority and dates

Made under section 411 read with section 384(b), the regulations were made on 17 June 2023, published on 21 June as S 386/2023 and took effect on 28 June 2023. These dates are relevant when reading earlier materials that described foreign-company member-register duties without this later named exception.
