Three classes of amounts must be paid in full
The requirement covers practice-monitoring programme fees under section 33(2), rule 4 and the First Schedule; PAOC disciplinary penalties under section 52(2)(d); and costs and expenses of or incidental to disciplinary proceedings ordered under section 52(3). All due, payable or outstanding amounts in these classes must be paid in full before renewal can be approved. The direction does not establish an instalment concession.
How payment fits the statutory renewal conditions
Under section 13(3), unless the Committee determines otherwise, renewal entitlement is lost for failure to meet prescribed CPE, comply with section 38(1) or (2)(b) orders, or satisfy other requirements considered relevant. PAOC uses section 13(3)(c) for this payment condition. Paying arrears addresses that condition but does not itself fulfil every other renewal requirement.
Statutory notes and the updated version
The footnotes explain the monitoring-fee power and the section 52 disciplinary framework, including a penalty not exceeding S$10,000 and costs ordered in respect of Part VI proceedings. The direction was issued on 5 September 2008 and updated as of 1 July 2023. Those notes describe the version cited, rather than a quote for a particular case.
