Quick answer
ACRA registration alone does not authorise a secondary directorship. An eligible appointment in a related company may require MOM’s Letter of Consent first; review the company relationship, duties and applicable process.

What to check
| Item | Check or action |
|---|---|
| 原雇主任职 / Sponsoring employer | Review the current pass and employment |
| 第二董事职务 / Secondary directorship | Check company relationship and LOC conditions |
| 登记 / Registration | Update ACRA records in line with permission |
Related-company conditions
A company appointing another company’s Singapore EP holder applies. Normally MOM grants LOC only if the companies are related by shareholding recorded in ACRA and the directorship relates to the holder’s main employment. Ensure the primary employer has no objection. Director duties under the Companies Act count as work, so obtain MOM approval before registering the appointment with ACRA.
Documents, time and validity
Provide the director appointment letter. Processing is within five weeks. LOC lasts only until current Singapore EP expiry or cancellation. After successful Singapore EP renewal, apply for a fresh LOC rather than assume automatic continuation. Consult the linked factsheet for further detail.
Unpaid charitable volunteering
A Singapore EP holder does not need LOC for volunteering where both conditions apply: no payment and a charitable purpose. This is not a general exemption for paid commercial directorships.
