Who renews and when
The employer or appointed EA renews before expiry, normally up to six months/180 days in advance. Singapore EP sponsorship renewals start three months before expiry. Missing expiry requires a new application. Early renewal preserves remaining current validity up to six months, rather than shortening the renewed term. A renewed pass normally lasts up to three years.
Eligibility and verification
Meet the applicable Singapore EP qualifying salary, remain with the same employer in a managerial, executive or specialised role, and pass COMPASS where required. Renewals of passes expiring from 1 September 2024 require COMPASS unless exempt, including the S$22,500 fixed-salary exemption. Renewal is not guaranteed. A qualification already verified need not be verified again at renewal or employer change; the form prompts when new verification is needed.
Fees and processing
Issuance costs S$225 plus S$30 for a Multiple Journey Visa where applicable. Standard myMOM renewals are processed or updated within 10 business days; sponsored cases take six weeks for most applications. Before submitting, update organisational turnover for three years. For sponsorship, download and complete the electronic renewal form, submit with support through the online form and receive the result by email to the named contact.
IPA and issuance deadline
A successful renewal IPA is valid for three months. Follow it to issue before the earlier of IPA or current-pass expiry; otherwise overstaying fines can result. The renewed duration begins when the current pass expires.
Retain or replace the card
Read the notification letter. If told to keep the existing card, the holder must retain it; returning it unnecessarily means a S$65.40 GST-inclusive replacement. If a new card is issued, cut and discard the old one. Set up SGWorkPass with Singpass to access the digital pass and employment details.
