Who the infographic covers
From YA 2020, qualifying self-employed commission agents with annual gross commission income up to S$50,000 may opt for a deemed business-expense amount equal to 25% of income. “Up to” includes S$50,000, but the source does not extend this option to an employee’s salary or every other business. The graphic gives YA 2020 as the starting year and no separate publication date.
The full numerical illustration
Gross income of S$50,000 produces deemed expenses of S$12,500, calculated as 25% × S$50,000. Subtracting that expense leaves adjusted profit of S$37,500. This is a deduction from income, not a 25% tax rate or a cash refund of S$12,500.
Automatic calculation and the actual-cost alternative
myTax Portal automatically calculates the 25% deduction for qualifying self-employed commission agents. If actual business expenses exceed that amount and the agent wants to claim actual expenses, the source says this can still be done during e-filing. The alternative replaces the deemed-expense basis; do not add the same actual expenses to the 25% claim and count them twice. The infographic’s screen illustration is not a separate application form.
