Lift and Escalator Maintenance: COVID-19 Advisory (2020)

Historical version and scope

Issued 4 June 2020. Pandemic testing, vaccination, movement restrictions and temporary grants describe that period. This guide preserves the original operational recommendations without presenting those temporary measures as current requirements.

Recommendations and examples

Maintain regulatory routine servicing for public-access and residential lifts/escalators. Honour unchanged contracts without demanding JSS discounts; mutually revise genuinely changed services. Apply then-required health checks, masks, hygiene/distancing and do not dispatch ill staff. Buyers support these protocols; providers pay fairly for extra work and use training/absentee-pay support. Workfare Training Support was renamed/enhanced as WSS from 1 July 2020.
