Two eligible groups
An employer may apply for a foreign student or a trainee from its foreign office or subsidiary.
| Candidate | Conditions |
|---|---|
| Foreign student | The Singapore attachment is part of the course; study at an acceptable institution or earn at least S$3,000 fixed monthly salary |
| Trainee from foreign office or subsidiary | At least S$3,000 fixed monthly salary |
Review and restrictions
MOM may request qualification verification or proof of ownership of the foreign company. A previous TEP holder is ineligible for another TEP for the same type of training.
An unusually high number or proportion of TEP applications or holders compared with similar firms in the industry may result in rejection. Validity is up to three months and is not renewable.
Alternatives if ineligible
A foreign student may consider the Work Holiday Programme. A semi-skilled or unskilled foreign trainee may consider the Training Work Permit, subject to that route’s conditions.
